Ok, so today, I decided to cook for my cousins, both involved directly with this movement. Jaisal Noor, a grassroots journalist, and Dharna Noor, an undergraduate student. (Here is one of Jaisal’s reports on OWS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmnL2rHbnSc)
Both of them are working really hard to gather support for this movement. I wish them all the best and I want to tell you guys that I love you and pray for you everyday.
So here is what I made today, really wish you were here to eat them, but the cookies I made today are in your honour. I am seriously honored to be related to such wonderful people. 🙂

COOKIES FILLED WITH HOPE
What you need:
3 cups of all purpose flour
Half teaspoon of baking soda
A generous sprinkling of salt
One and a half cups of sugar
Five heaped tablespoons of butter
One fourth cup of lemon juice
Rind of three small lemons
1. Bring out the ever-faithful patila. Add all the dry ingredients to it, except the sugar. This is what it looks like:
2. Take the sugar out of the sugar container. (dabba). Make the dabba a musical instrument. Do a dance.
3. Powder the sugar in the mixie, till it becomes ‘powdered’ sugar.
4. Add the sugar, butter and egg to the patila.
5. Add the lemon juice to the patila. Do not look at other things behind the patila. This is what it looks like:
6. Mix the contents as well as you can. Show me what youre made of. Not that I really care.
7. Add the lovely lemon zest, my domestic help refuses to grate it, so we cut it into small pieces, works just as well really. If you dont like lemon bits in your mouth for some reason, (sheesh!), grate it. Dont complain if you bleed.
8. Roll it into a ball of sorts and keep it in the fridge for an hour or so, I kept it for 30 minutes, but the recipe says an hour. Also preheat the oven to 200 degrees now.
9. Take it out of the fridge, and roll it into small balls first, then flatten them out and lay them on the tray. So now, you will see two photographs, one below the other. Lucky days for you choons.
10. Grease a baking tray with butter or oil.
11. Arrange the raw cookies onto the greased tray, and sprinkle some sugar onto them, much like this.
12. Put this very same tray into the oven.
13. Check on it after five minutes, it should be ready within maximum 30 minutes.
14. Take them out of the oven. Stop mid way to photograph.
15. Arrange them on a mat to admire them.
16. Here is what was left in around 20 minutes.
