Day 24/90

So im not over my obsession with dips, and today was my Tzatziki day. This lovely creation has its origins in Greece, and you can read more about it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tzatziki

It is fairly easy, and basically involves cucumber and yogurt, but my ever wonderful mother decided this could be called kheera ka raita, and she said Im talking crap and that this is really easy to make. Bollocks! It is easy, but it is NOT raita, and never let anyone convince you that it is. Listen to me choons and all will be well.

I followed it today, but added some mint, a lot of the other recipes online said I should. Frankly I had no idea what this would taste like so I listened to the recipe completely. You should too. 


So, here goes. πŸ™‚ 


 TZATZIKI TAMASHA 


What you need: 


400 grams/One container of yogurt (I used something called Nestle A plus Dahi!?!) 
Three to four cloves of garlic, crushed 
One cucumber 
Salt to taste
A few peppercorns, crushed 
A few mint leaves, crushed 
A tablespoon of olive oil 
A tablespoon of lemon juice 


The process: 


1. See, ff you use store bought yogurt, chances are that it is thick anyway, but home made yogurt might be runny, especially in this season. So, you should use a strainer and make sure the water content in the yogurt is reduced. This is what it looks like: 





























2. Now, we come to the cucumber. So basically, you take your cucumber and peel it. Then you slice it in half and remove the seeds with a spoon. This is what it should look like. 













3. Now, grate both the halves and keep aside. 

































4. Place the grated cucumber within a small towel, and drain out all excess water. 






























































5. In a separate bowl, add the strained yogurt and crushed garlic. 





























6. Now, add everything else, the cucumber, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and mint. Mix away as if your life depends on it. 





























7. Add two mint leaves as garnish. Admire and eat you choon. Love you all. Now its my birthday, pardon me as I eat some cheesecake. Hmm.
